ÂÌñÉçÇø

Innovation in education and training for the next generation of professional artists and arts professionals.

Announced in 2021, the Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts at ÂÌñÉçÇø builds on Canada’s first Bachelor of Fine Arts program with a long-standing history of arts education and artistic practice.

ÂÌñÉçÇø’s Fine Arts program combines teaching with artistic practice, studio projects, and collaborations with community artists and arts organizations. The program also includes degree options in Art History and the recently introduced new minor in Museum and Curatorial Studies.

With support from the Pierre Lassonde Family Foundation, the Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts builds on the program’s long-standing history in and support of the arts and will bolster new learning, scholarship, and arts initiatives.

This is achieved by:

  • Increasing the University’s capacity for new scholarly and artistic activity and support for students â€¨
  • New entrance and upper-year scholarships for Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts students. These include the Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Scholarship — a $15,000 entrance award — and the Gibbens Lassonde Scholarships for new students, and the Gibbens Lassonde Performance Awards for upper-year students
  • Internship opportunities for upper-year students on campus and with external arts organizations, providing students with access to professionals and experts from the public and private sectors
  • A dynamic Artist-in-Residence program, giving students direct access to notable Canadian and international artists as part of their studies
