Ready to be a ÂÌñÉçÇø student? With one application for admission and scholarships, applying is easy!

Follow the steps below to apply as a new student for an undergraduate degree at ÂÌñÉçÇø.

This includes Canadian and international high school students, mature students, and transfer students — as well as students applying from an established pathway program with ÂÌñÉçÇø.

Separate applications are available for exchange students, visiting students, returning students, and graduate students.

What type of applicant are you?
Applicant type Description what application to use
High school students If you're still in high school OR if you've earned a high school diploma but haven't completed any credits at a college or university, and are under the age of 22.
Transfer students If you've received a high school diploma and completed coursework a a college or university.
Mature students If you're 22 or older, have received a high school diploma, and haven't completed any credits at a college or university.
Exchange students If you're currently attending on of ÂÌñÉçÇø's partner institutions and wish to take part in an exchange with ÂÌñÉçÇø. Exchange student application
Visiting students If you're pursuing post-secondary studies at another recognized university or college, and want to complete coursework at ÂÌñÉçÇø. Typically, visiting students do not intend to obtain a degree from ÂÌñÉçÇø, but want to tranfer credits to their home institution. Visiting student application
Former students If you've previously attended a least one semester at ÂÌñÉçÇø and have been absent for a year or. more OR if you've already graduated. If you've been absent for less than a year, you don't have to re-apply. Re-admission application

Before you apply

Applying is easy, but there are a few things you can prepare ahead of time to make it even easier!

Application Deadline
We offer admission on a rolling basis, accepting applications starting in October. However, to be considered for scholarships and bursaries, your application and all supporting documents must be received by March 1.

Submit your application

Create your MtA application account and fill out the online application for admission and scholarships. If you've already applied, you can still

Indigenous students

Indigenous students have the option to self-identify on their application under 'Indigenous Peoples of Canada Self-Identification'. 

Our Indigenous Affairs Coordinator will reach out to students to offer Indigenous support services on campus.

This information will not influence admission decisions.

All Indigenous students can access Indigenous support programs and services, even if they do not self-identify on their application.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities have the option to self-identify on their application. 

Our Disability Services Advisor will reach out to students to offer accessibility services.

This information will not influence admission decisions.

All students with documented disabilities can register for accessibility services, even if they do not self-identify on their application.

First-generation students

First-generation students — the first students in their families to attend university — have the option to self-identify on their application. 

First-generation students will be invited to access first-generation services and programs.

All first-generation students can access services and programs, even if they do not self-identify on their application.

Submit your supporting documents

Your application is almost complete! But first you may need to submit some documents, depending on the type of student you are.

High school students

If you're in high school, transcripts are needed to determine if you've met our admission requirements. Submit the following through your MtA application account, depending on when you apply:

Early admission (Oct.-Jan.)

  • Final Grade 11 transcript
  • Grade 12 course list
  • Mid-year Grade 12 transcript required when available

General admission (Feb.-Aug.)

  • Mid-year Grade 12 transcript
  • Final high school transcript if available

Supporting documents for scholarships: when you apply, submit supporting documents for scholarship consideration (if applicable).

Final official transcript: once you've completed your academic year, official transcripts must be sent directly to ÂÌñÉçÇø from your high school by mail, fax, or e-mail.

Transfer students

You're a transfer student if you've received a high school diploma, and completed any coursework at a college or university.

  • Your most up-to-date post-secondary transcripts from all institutions attended and final high school transcripts
  • A letter of intent outlining academic/professional goals and addressing any academic discrepancies (if applicable)

Transfer credits

You can only apply for transfer credits once you've been accepted to ÂÌñÉçÇø and you've accepted your offer of admission by paying your registration deposit.

Mature students

You're a mature student if you're 22 or older, have received a high school diploma, and haven't completed any credits at a college or university.

In addition to transcripts, you must submit:

  • a letter of intent that outlines your personal and career goals and explains why you want to attend ÂÌñÉçÇø
  • an updated resume noting any relevant educational and professional experience
International students

You're an international student if you're not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

In addition to transcripts, you must also submit:

English language proficiency

If English is not your first language, you may be asked to provide proof of English proficiency.

To submit your transcripts and other documentation, upload all your documents in your .

Additional applications and documentation by program:

Bachelor of Music (BMus)

For students applying to the Bachelor of Music (BMus) only.

In addition to the general University admission application, you must also:

  • submit a Music application
  • audition
  • take a music entrance assessment
  • submit a letter of reference

Feb. 10 — Deadline to submit your Music application, entrance assessment, and letter of reference

Fine Arts (BFA or BA Fine Arts)

For students applying to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Fine Arts.

In addition to the general University admission application, you must also submit:

  • a Fine Arts application
  • a portfolio

Feb. 15 — Deadline for Fine Arts application and portfolio

Aviation

Please indicate 'aviation' as your intended major when applying to:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aviation
  • Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) — Aviation
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) — Aviation

Before you can officially be admitted into the aviation program, you must complete your first year at ÂÌñÉçÇø.

To be admitted into the aviation program, you must:

  • Have second-year standing (have earned a min. 24 credits)
  • Obtain a Transport Canada Category 1 medical certificate
  • Pass a formal English language proficiency test from MFC Training

Once admitted into the aviation program, your flight training can begin.

We will keep you in the loop every step of the way! You will receive an e-mail when:

  • your application has been submitted
  • your supporting documents are received
  • your application is complete and being reviewed

If you receive an offer of admission, you will be notified of the decision by e-mail and letter.

Otherwise, we will send you a letter in the mail.

Special programs

English Pathway Programs

ÂÌñÉçÇø's English pathway programs are designed for students from non-English backgrounds who need extra time and training to meet our English proficiency requirements, and who would like to benefit from additional transition time and academic preparation before full-time studies.

Tantramar Advantage Program

For eligible Tantramar Regional High School students who wish to experience university life by taking a first-year course at ÂÌñÉçÇø while still in high school.
