Biography

I received my doctorate from Brock University in Interdisciplinary Humanities, specializing in Critique and Social Transformation. My research has focused on how the issue of migration speaks to the heart of the European project. I have looked at the examples of the Global Migration Crisis and the transnational situation of the Roma in Europe. I have argued that Europe鈥檚 history of statelessness and migration has been made a fundamental principle of the European Union through the freedom of the movement of persons. However, it has struggled to uphold this principle in the face of rising nationalist politics within its Member States, largely because of issues surrounding the politics of migration.

I also have a Master of Arts in European Studies from the University of Guelph, and have completed a graduate studies program at the Universit茅 Libre de Bruxelles, Universit茅 D鈥橢urope on 鈥淓xternal Relations of the European Union.鈥 I also have a peer-reviewed publication in the Journal of Military and Strategic Studies. I have presented papers at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, the European Conference on Arts and Humanities, and at the International Political Science Association World Congress of Political Science.
