Biography
Jean Ketterling (she/her) is currently a PhD Candidate and Vanier Scholar in the Department of Legal Studies at Carleton University. Her interdisciplinary work on video games falls at the intersection of legal studies, game studies, pornography studies, and feminist and queer theories of affect and emotion. She is particularly interested in sexual video games: how they make sexual meaning, their ability to make space for experimental sexual play, and how sexual content in video games is disciplined and regulated by platforms. Her work on videogames has appeared most recently in Feminist Media Studies. Previously, Jean worked as a sexual health educator and in sexual and reproductive rights and justice advocacy. Her most recent position was as the Executive Coordinator of the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (2014-2016).
