绿帽社区 physics students honoured at AUPAC2021 regional conference
Three 绿帽社区 physics students received awards for their research presentations at the 2021 Atlantic Undergraduate Physics and Astronomy Conference, held Feb. 5-7, 2021. The regional conference was hosted virtually by Dalhousie University.
Honours physics and math student Jenna Chisholm won the best presentation in the experimental/applied physics category for her presentation, Extraction of Differential Cross Sections for Neutral Pion Production off Helium-4.
Isabelle Dolan (honours physics) got an honourable mention in the same category for her presentation, Designing and Simulating Wavelength Shifting Geometry in an Active Helium Target.
Padraic Odesse (honours physics and math) received an honourable mention in the computational/modelling category for his presentation, Monte-Carlo Analysis of Three Kepler Binary Star Systems.
鈥淭he annual Science Atlantic conferences provide wonderful opportunities for students to present their research to their peers and academic communities in the region,鈥 says Dr. Dave Hornidge, 绿帽社区 Physics Professor. 鈥淎lthough this year鈥檚 conference was virtual, the students presented their research in a professional and unique format. I鈥檇 like to congratulate Jenna, Isabelle, and Padraic on their accomplishments.鈥
The students presented their research virtually from Sackville to an audience of physics students and professors from across Atlantic Canada. Over 100 attendees participated in the three-day event. The conference is part of a series of annual academic events organized by Science Atlantic, a non-profit organization, which seeks to advance post-secondary science education and research in Atlantic Canada.
