Position description
Under the overarching guidance of the Manager of Campus Infrastructure and Utilities, the incumbent is tasked with several responsibilities. Firstly, they are responsible for executing general repairs on buildings, building components, and furnishings within the realm of carpentry. Secondly, they are expected to construct and install components based on verbal instructions or basic sketches. Finally, they must be prepared to promptly respond to emergency call-ins beyond regular working hours as required.
Under the overall direction of the Manager of Campus Infrastructure and Utilities:
鈥⑩ 鈥疨erform general repairs to buildings, building components and furnishings as they relate to the carpentry trade.
鈥⑩ 鈥疊uild and install components from verbal instructions or simple sketches
鈥⑩ 鈥疪espond promptly to emergency call-ins outside of normal working hours as required.
鈥⑩ 鈥疨erform other related duties as directed or assigned
鈥⑩ 鈥疉 member of CUPE Local 2338
鈥⑩ 鈥疉 valid New Brunswick Journeyman Carpenter鈥檚 License
鈥⑩ 鈥疉 valid New Brunswick Drivers License
Qualifications/skills
Experience in the following areas (Duties not limited to these areas):
鈥⑩ Carpet and tile installation
鈥⑩ Drywall and crack filling
鈥⑩ Door, glass and hardware installation
鈥⑩ Simple cabinetwork
鈥⑩ All rough and finish carpentry鈥疌eramic tile installation and grouting
鈥⑩ Suspended ceiling installation
鈥⑩赌赌&苍产蝉辫;搁辞辞蹿颈苍驳&苍产蝉辫;
鈥⑩ Locksmith experience (an asset)
鈥⑩疉bility to understand written and verbal instructions
鈥⑩ 鈥疨hysical condition and ability required to perform the assignments outlined under 鈥淣ature of Work鈥 and to use CSA approved safety equipment
鈥⑩ 鈥疉bility to consistently perform manual tasks safely and efficiently
鈥⑩ 鈥疻illingness to perform all specific tasks of this position
鈥⑩ 鈥疻illingness and ability to be available consistently throughout the term of this position
鈥⑩ 鈥疭hould be well-organized and have the ability to establish priorities and plan completion of duties related to this position
鈥⑩ 鈥疉n attitude that demonstrates a willingness to work as expected and the intention and ability to work cooperatively and effectively 鈥痺ith supervisors, faculty, students, co-workers and other staff
鈥⑩ 鈥疉bility to be at work and to work consistently for the hours assigned without direct supervision
